Copán overnight
The day before we will
deliver your bus tickets and a service voucher.
You will take a deluxe motor coach to the city
of San Pedro Sula, upon arrival to terminal a
tour guide will be waiting for you to drive you
to Copan.
Day01:
A morning departure from La Ceiba will take you
on an excellent paved highway through Western
Honduras, first you will reach San Pedro Sula
and afterwards you will follow Chamelecón
River Valley to Copán. Throughout the trip
you will see enchanting rural scenes, which will
include forested mountains, livestock farms, tobacco
plantations and in the higher elevations, coffee
"fincas".
The trip to Copán
will take about five hours. Upon arrival to the
Ruins, you will check in at the your hotel of
choice, in the afternoon our bilingual guide will
give you a walking tour of the main archaeological
site, including the acropolis, the ball court,
the hieroglyphic stairway and the great plaza
of the stelaes; as well as of the new majestic
Museum of Mayan Sculpture, acclaimed by experts
as unique in the Mayan World. A masterpiece within
the museum is the exact size replica of the famed
Rosa Lila Temple, discovered in 1989 perfectly
preserved underground.
After our visit to the
sites it's time to go back to the hotel &
spend our afternoon shopping and strolling around
town, if desired an optional visit to the famous
Hacienda San Lucas can be arranged having an authentic
Honduras dinner in this new typical restaurant,
the Hacienda San Lucas offers a magnificent opportunity
to explore a typical Honduran "finca".
Nestled in the mountainsides of the Copán
Valley, with magnificent views of the valley,
the town of Copán and the jungle surrounding
the Archaeological park, then return to hotel
late in the evening.
Day02:
We will enjoy breakfast in the restaurant llama
del Bosque, famous for it's tortillas & refried
beans, then we will do a visit to the archaeological
museum in town, this will be a perfect complement
to what you have seen in the main site itself,
return to hotel for check-out & transfer to
San Pedro Sula to take a motor coach to La Ceiba.
