04. Cusuco cloud forrest National Park tour
Located just west of San Pedro Sula, in the impressive Merendón Mountain Range that dominates the city, this cloud forest is probably the one park with the best infrastructure for tourists in Honduras. It is easily reached by taking the western highway towards Copán, turning off at the entrance to the town of Cofradía and continuing up a dirt road to the village of Buenos Aires.
From this village you are in the proximity of the park and its visitors center (elevation of 6,000 ft.).The dirt road from Cofradía on is not easy. From here on (visitor center) your tour guide show you huge ferns, mixed with pine, oak, liquidambar and many broad leaf trees; also jaguar, deer, peccary, monkeys and many tropical birds, including the famous quetzal lives here famed to be the loveliest of all tropical birds, which has been sent to the brink of extinction because of loss of habitat as well as over hunting because of its beautiful long tail feather.
